Los Alamitos Quarter Horse: Friday 9/11

Friday's Quarter Horse program features an 8-race program with a pick-6 carryover of $4,108.

Tonight's Picks:

Race 1:  5-1-7

#5 Caliente Cat is an old pro that loves to win races. He's got enough speed to take the lead or stalk in good position. The cut back from 4 1/2 furlongs to 870 yards should benefit him.

Race 2:  1-6-4

#1 Green Beret has finished first, second, or third in his last five starts. He has a couple of speed-sharpening workouts leading up to this race. He should get a good stalking trip.

Race 3:  4-7-2

#4 Awe Gee is has been facing much tougher and takes a drop in class for solid connections. She needs to avoid a slow start like last time.

Race 4:  3-6-7

#3 Rolll Tide broke slowly in the GI Ed Burke Million Futurity and never recovered after that. He showed good talent in his trial win and should be fresh and ready to go in his first start since June.

Race 5:  6-1-4

#6 Fishin for Gold ran too good to lose last time out at this same level when losing by a neck. A repeat performance of her two starts should win here.

Race 6:  6-4-3

#6 Bac N Style takes another slight drop in class and picks up jockey Carlos Huerta. She can be tough to run down if she breaks alertly.

Race 7:  5-6-7

#5 Rgr Ripple N Rise finished last in a field of six last time out as the betting favorite after bumping at the start. Her previous effort fits well against these. A better start should have her in the mix.

Race 8:  3-6-7

#3 On Fire arrives from Utah with a perfect 2-for-2 record after a trial victory followed by a win in the Dixie Downs Futurity. He has a good local workout and jockey Tony Guymon has been aboard both of his wins.

I watch horses run around.
