Carryover is all thats left After Big Card

Feliz Domingo

Last night there were many close photo finishes decided by noses and necks last night in a great display of racing but the highlight win of the night was the impressive effort put up by Terrific Synergy, ridden by G.R. Carter, when he dusted his rivals in The Governor's Cup Derby (GII) in a final time of 19.489 while pulling away late in the 400 yard event. Secretly Holt took The Governor's Cup Futurity (GII) by a nose in a close photo finish while covering 350 yards it 17.527 under Rodrigo Aceves. After the Stakes-filled 13-race card that was on display yesterday, we have a nine-race no-stakes card to end the week at Los Alamitos where a small $3,219 pick six carryover is worth taking a look at. Let's try to end the week with a bang and get some winners.

$8,588 Pick Six Carryover to get Week Started

Es Viernes!

It is Friday and that means the start of the racing week at Los Alamitos. Today's card brings nine races to the table along with a $8,588 pick six carryover from Sunday night. This should be a good warm up card to what should be a great night of racing tomorrow night. A 350-yard allowance, that after early scratches is now down to four runners, highlights the card. Last week was a good week of winners for me but the last race on the card on Friday (was alive to pick six & pick four), Saturday (was alive to pick four) and Sunday (was alive to pick four) did not treat me well. Let's close out those ticket today.

Race 1:  5-6-1
#5 Limerick Lane, was unlucky to lose last race when shut off with no space.
#6 To the Top, liked her last time and showed good speed. Needs to take turn right.
#1 Lucky Affair, comes off two good seconds. First off the claim for low profile connections.

Race 2:  8-7-4
#8 Sno Shake, first off the claim, likes outside post, can steal it from the gate.
#7 Runaway Corky, unlucky to lose last out, first off the claim, good past class.
#4 Aces N Ale, good time when second at this level last out, leading rider sticks.

Race 3:  4-2-1
#4 Rule by Faith, first time starter by Tribal Rule can win here, trainer knows how to get them ready.
#2 Siberian Rule, gutsy second when he re-rallied when beaten a head. Can show speed.
#1 Mar Sal, ran second at 22-1 in improved effort, rider has ridden him before when second also.

Race 4:  1-2-6
#1 Airplane Gold, debut winner two outs ago, ran good second against talented runner it trial.
#2 Blistering Speed, showed big late run to get third, good win at this distance two back.
#6 Sugarbear Sax Man, needs to break, ran second in trial to G2 winner, Class of field.

Race 5:  6-5-2
#6 Dirty Deed, won first time locally two outs back in solid time, first off claim for hot connections.
#5 Piccolo Prince, first off claim, has speed, gets hot-riding Guce to ride. Send and hold on.
#2 Indian Gaming, no factor in local debut, claimed, blinkers on, good speed when on dirt in Feb at SA.

Race 6:  6-1-4
#6 One Famous Dash, nicely bred, non factor in debut but takes BIG class drop here for 2nd start.
#1 Catrina Czech, most experienced, best race yet when 2nd last out, rail does not help gate habits.
#4 Registered Runner, slight class drop, gate manners are not good, can win with a good break.

Race 7:  1-6-3
#1 Jvblacky, two good & consistent drills for debut here, was not asked in latest, seems like a runner.
#6 Dynasty Now, gets good post, nice second to good runner last out, contender to win it.
#3 Fly Cartel, good debut when third in solid time, trainer wins 17% second time out. Leading rider.

Race 8:  4-1-3
#4 A Dirty Feature, nice drill in preparation for this off year layoff, has past class, good post.
#1 Corona Kash, bullet drill leading to this, trainer wins 29% with this small layoffs.
#3 Im Tryin, won last out despite slight stumble, has gate speed in this compact field. Worth a look.

Race 9:  6-3-2
#6 Tres Coronas Mas, better than looked effort, Bred to be a good one, will improve bunches.
#3 Mrthirtyeightspecial, class drop, good third in debut to OneDashingEagle (EdBukeMillionWinner).
#2 Stel Redneck, drops in class, efforts three and four back, will be tough here. No gate speed though.

My Plays:

$1 Early Pick Four (Races 1-4)($18):  5 / 4,7,8 / 2,4 / 1,2,6

$2 Pick Six (Races 4-9)($36):  1,2,6 / 6 / 6 / 1,3,6 / 4 / 3,6

Claming Saturday

Hola Amigos,

On this Saturday of racing at Los Alamitos, the claimers fill in the card as the only non-claiming race is a straight maiden race for the two-year-olds in race 8. Last night was a good night on the the handicapping side for me as my $24 early pick four hit for a nice $1015. Many top pick winners kept the rolling pick 3's hitting and was alive to the pick six to the last leg but it was not meant to be as the last winner was not in my ticket. Let's concentrate on today now as a nine-race card is on tap. My top three picks for each race follow with my pick fours for today at the bottom. Sorry, no time for comments today for my top three picks.

Good Luck!

7/20/2012: Friday With Potential Big Pools

Friday begins the racing week at Los Alamitos with a nine race card with a good early pick four sequence that i think will attract a big pool. Del Mar starts their card at 4pm on this Friday and the end of their card (approx. 7:30pm) will overlap with the first post at Los Alamitos set for 7:20pm and that might inflate a larger than normal pick four pool. Also Saratoga opening day will be on full effect and maybe some simulcast bettors will stick around and take a shot at the Los Alamitos pick four. Great betting cards and great horse racing all around the country in what should be a great Friday tomorrow. Let's take a shot at the card with my top three picks for each race and some pick fours to follow.

Race 1:  3-5-1
Race 2:  7-6-3
Race 3:  7-4-1
Race 4:  7-1-5
Race 5:  6-5-2
Race 6:  3-1-2
Race 7:  4-6-5
Race 8:  6-3-4
Race 9:  4-2-6

$1 Early Pick Four (Races 1-4)($24):  3,5 / 3,6,7 / 4,7 / 1,7

$1 Late Pick Four (Races 6-9)($12):  1,3 / 4 / 3,6 / 2,4,6

Good Luck!

Allowance to end the Week

Hola amigos,

No weiner dogs, no stakes, no trials, just a 300 yard allowance to end the week of racing on this Sunday card at Los Alamitos. In the racing world we have the Del Mar and Saratoga meets opening up this coming week and that should start a great summer season of racing that will lead us to the Breeders Cup at Santa Anita. The weekends ahead in the Los Alamitos racing calendar are filled with great cards and great racing but today we have three thoroughbred races and six quarter horse races in a nine-race card filled with hard-knocking claimers. There are some good wide open fields and that should lead to some good betting odds in a card worth taking a shot at. Top three picks with pick fours to follow:

Race 1:  1-6-4
Race 2:  5-6-2
Race 3:  7-2-4
Race 4:  1-4-7
Race 5:  4-1-3
Race 6:  6-2-4
Race 7:  5-3-1
Race 8:  2-4-6
Race 9:  6-4-1

My Plays:

$1 Early Pick Four (Races 1-4)($24):  1 / 5,6 / 2,4,7 /  1,4,7,8

$1 Late Pick Four (Races  6-9)($12):  6 / 5 / 2,4,6 / 1,2,4,6

Governor's Cup Futurity Trials Night

Hola amigos,

It is the start of the racing week at Los Alamitos with a friday card that features six trials to the Governor's Cup Futurity. Fifty-three two-year olds bred in California will race in six trials to earn a spot as one of the ten fastest qualifiers that will return for the final. The entire card looks competitive and that should provide for a fun night of handicapping and placing some wagers on what looks to be a night for good payouts. The trials go as the last six races on the card which covers the pick six (small carryover tonight) and the late pick four. Let's get to the plays.

Race 1:  1-7-3
#1 Truly Censored, almost got up for the win last out. Rail no problem. The one to deny.
#7 Royal Regard, Goes for new barn, nice 12.2 drill since last seen, drops out of futurity.
#3 Bingo, well-bred colt has two decent efforts against good fields. Can improve.

Race 2:  2-3-4
#2 Price the Vice, closed ground late in last race. Slightly longer distance will help.
#3 Bolt Lightly, big drop here after a troubled debut. Decent works before debut. Only making second start.
#4 Snowlicious, small drop and extra distance will benefit to her T-Bred breeding for late kick.

Race 3:  6-4-7
#6 Better Then Ever, recovered to run a good third after slow start. Gets R. Aceves to ride.
#4 Awise Secret, First time starter shows nice 12.1 work for barn that does not work them fast. Good sire.
#7 Saving Shirley, drops from much tougher competition for Jones. Outside post might help her break good.

Race 4:  6-4-2
#6 Madam Prez, powerful win last out. Nice bullet 21.2 drill since last seen. Can only improve more.
#4 Splendiferous Diva, nice win, resume mirrors #6.  Barn knows how to keep them sharp. Tough to ignore.
#2 I Go Out Walkin, has good gate speed can steal race is she breaks good and avoids trouble.

Race 5:  4-1-9
#4 Chick On First, Filly has royal breeding and is looking for break out effort. I have a feeling.
#1 Don Loncho, good win last out to get up after stumbling. Needs alert break. Dangerous.
#9 Swindler, Ed Allred homebred ran good against tougher last out. Can get a jump on the field.

Race 6:  5-9-7
#5 Dawn of a New Day, good debut (3rd). Makes 2nd start. Trainer knows how to get them ready to peak.
#6 Just Might Go, nice win when last seen but slow work since then. Ability is there. Good gate speed.
#7 Got No Secrets, put it all together in big win last out but had little competition in that field.

Race 7:  6-3-7
#6 Wears the Pants, big win last out when NOT asked. Filly has much left in tank. Look for big effort.
#3 Remembering Spence, good win in stakes last out. Needs gate speed against this field. Talented.
#7 Secretly Hot, good time in win last out. Rider was asking late to keep going. Can improve in tough field.

Race 8:  8-1-6
#8 Henoshersecret, class of field. Did not show fight late last out when beaten head, but easier field here.
#1 Living Your Dreams, good win last out. Bred to like this longer distance. Visscher homebred.
#6 Shifty, responded with good second with class drop. Small layoff, good drill, can upset this field.

Race 9:  3-1-5
#3 Our Secret Queen, breakout maiden win last out. Good final time. Build on effort to win.
#1 Whittier High, has always broken on top in three lifetime starts. Threat to steal from rail.
#5 Clever Me, has talent but needs gate speed. Decent time when third last out. Is improving.

My Plays:

$1 Early Pick Four (Races 1-4)($16):  1,2,3,7 / 2,3 / 4,6 / 6

$2 Pick Six (Races 4-9)($16):  6 / 4 / 5,9 / 3,6 / 8 / 1,3
