GI $1,049,350 Golden State Million Futurity

Tonight's featured event at Los Alamitos is the running of the Grade I Golden State Million Futurity at the distance of 400 yards. The third fastest qualifier Jess A Politician bled in the trials and is scratched from tonight's final so we are left with a field of nine going to the gate. The Golden State Million will go as the final race of the night.

Picks:

Race 1:  9-6-5

#9 Lady Dash got a good experience over the track when finishing third at this level competition. A clean break from the outside post should have her within striking position throughout.

Race 2:  2-4-3

#2 Tizthespirit has been giving some time off since September and looks to be in a good spot for his comeback while taking a drop in class.

Race 3:  2-3-9

#2 Ojos de Toro Loco finished strong despite a slow start when missing the win by a neck against slightly easier competition last time out. New trainer is doing well with new acquisitions.

Race 4:  9-2-8  The Golden State Juvenile

#9 Hiclere looked strong in allowance win when pulling away easily. The outside post and the extra distance should help her chances.

Race 5:  2-4-5

#2 Perfect Genius takes a drop in class and is making his third start for this high percentage trainer. He should be able to get a good tracking trip settling behind the speed horses.

Race 6:  5-7-1

#5 Palm Canyon has been showing speed going longer against much tougher and now faces easier competition while cutting back in distance.

Race 7:  3-2-7

#3 Whatrtheodds has not raced since August and put in a strong workout in preparation for this race. This field lacks any standouts and a repeat effort from two races ago should get the win.

Race 8:  4-6-7

#4 Alota Proud Saints ran on well to finish second at a lower level last time out in her second start at Los Al. She's the most lightly raced runner in this field and there is plenty of room to improve.

Race 9: 4-7-5  The Grade I $1,049,350 Golden State Million Futurity

#4 Docs Best Card broke fast on trials night and looked much improved after a troubled trip in the PCQHRA Breeders' Futurity earlier in October. He always seems to fire a good effort and I expect another strong performance.
I watch horses run around.
