Los Alamitos Thoroughbred: 9/17/15

Who's hot: Flavien Prat had four winners on Sunday and that has him sitting in second place of the jockey standings behind Fernando Perez who enters the week with five wins.

Meet Flavien Prat in this Q&AI had with him: http://www.americasbestracing.net/en/the-latest/news-stories/2015/9/10/q-and-a-with-rising-star-jockey-flavien-prat/

Today's Picks:

Race 1:  3-7-2

#3 Irish and Lucky has been running at the highest level of competition during the night programs and he previously broke his maiden at this same distance during the day back in December. She will be close to the leaders early on.

Race 2:  5-2-1

#5 Little Mustard debuts in a field without any standouts. He's been working out over this track in the mornings and looks to have a good foundation for his first start.

Race 3:  2-1-8

#2 Xerxes showed speed but tired at Del Mar at a longer distance. He goes first off the claim for a good barn and shortens up one furlong and gets a weight allowance with apprentice Ty Kennedy aboard.

Race 4:  6-1-4

#6 Love Phone brings a 2-race win streak into this race and appears to be the fastest of the group. She will try to steal the race from gate to wire.

Race 5:  3-5-7

#3 Devil Rising looked like a new horse last time when making his second start for this trainer. A repeat effort should have him in great position to win.

Race 6:  6-4-1

#6 Dixie Caravan arrives for a barn that can fire with first time starters and he has a good local workout in preparation for his debut. His post towards the outside should allow him to get a clear running path into the first turn.

Race 7:  7-5-1

#7 Warren's Rail Bird posted his career best effort over this track and over this same distance against similar field back in July when romping by over six lengths. He's been given some time off and I have a feeling he's going to fire a big effort once again.

Race 8:  1-6-10

#1 Bussjaeger finished a good second at Del Mar at this level in his last start when finishing 18 lengths ahead of the third place finisher. Any slight improvement should land him in the winner's circle.
I watch horses run around.
