Remington Park: GI $1.2 Million Heritage Place Futurity

A terrific card awaits Saturday night at Remington Park with a total of 12 races including 8 stakes highlighted by the GI $1.2 Million Heritage Place Futurity. It's a terrific betting card.

Tune in to the live video feed from Remington Park throughout the night for great insight from paddock host Chris Kotulak and keep an eye out after Race 2 as I'll have the pleasure of joining Chris to talk some racing. I had a productive night yesterday so let's hope we keep rolling.

Selections:

Race 1:  6-3-10

#6 She's a Tourist arrives from the hot barn of trainer Jorge Gonzalez who is winning at 45 percent from a limited about of starters and her jockey is winning at a 29 percent race during the current meeting. She posted a good local workout on May 1st.

Race 2:  8-6-2

#8 Dashing Tee ran a solid second in a trial last time out and earned a good speed figure in what was his first start of 2015. That was the first time in his career he broke on top so maybe he's showing he has improved as a 3-year-old.

Race 3:  3-8-7

#3 Lotta Jess had a three race win streak snapped last out when fourth in a similar level, he's only making his fifth lifetime start has has plenty of room to improve.

Race 4:  3-1-7

#3 Volcoms Delight has been facing some tough fields and ran a flat fourth in her last start as the betting favorite but i'm willing to toss that one out because of the sloppy surface. I think the return to this 400 yards distance and a dry track will get her back in top shape.

The GIII $50,000 Easy Jet

Race 5:  7-3-8

#7 Barbie Cartel got away last in her last start and was never really involved after that. Her performance two start ago in a futurity trial fits well against these.

The $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile

Race 6:  9-10-8

#9 Hearts On a Hero posted a good final time in his winning debut when overlooked at odds of 11-to-1. He has some sharp connections and he can be a good one if he keeps improving as the races go by.

The GIII $50,000 Junos Request

Race 7:  3-2-7

#3 Dynasty of Habits is a classy filly that is making her Remington Park debut after racing her entire career at Los Alamitos. She missed second by a nose last time out in the GI Southern California Derby and a repeat effort should have her in the mix.

The GI $213,500 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity

Race 8:  3-9-7

#3 Painted Turnpike is an undefeated 4-for-4 including a stakes victory and he just looks too good for this field.

The GI $1,290,000 Heritage Place Futurity

Race 9:  2-8-7

#2 By Midnight Express posted a sensational looking debut win three starts ago and then failed to fire in the Futurity. He then returned with a solid time in the trials to the Heritage Place Futurity and I think he's in a great spot to fire a big race at a bit of a price, he's 8-1 in the morning line.

The GIII $369,910 Heritage Place Derby

Race 10:  3-10-9

#3 Viento Negro has always been on my radar since before he debuted as a 2-year-old at Los Alamitos. He managed to rally for the win in his trial but he's going to need to break on top to beat these.

The GI $250,000 Remington Park Inviational Championship
The winner of this race also earns an automatic berth to the GI Champion of Champions this December at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Race 11:  2-7-1

#2 Dashing Brown Streak brings a four race win streak into race including a GI win last time out over this track. Jockey G.R. Carter has been aboard many of his wins and he posted a sharp workout in preparation for todays race. He seems to love this track, he owns five wins and one second in six starts at Remington Park.

The GIII $50,000 Remington Park Distance Championship

Race 12:  8-2-4

#8 Emperor Valerian posted a nice stakes win last time out over this track and the outside post should allow him to drop in around the turn and track the pace setters.

I watch horses run around.
