Friday @ Los Alamitos

The week of racing at Los Alamitos begins tonight with an 8-race card with a first post of 7:45 pm. Below are my selections for tonight. Follow me on twitter to see my pick-4 plays and other bets.

Stay tuned to the blog because I'll also be posting picks for Remington Park for their closing week featuring the GI $1.1 Million Heritage Place Futurity on Saturday.

Race 1:  4-3-5

#4 Highly Cynical was against too tough a group last time out and now drops to the claimed level of two starts ago. He’s got enough speed to allow him to set the pace or sit a good stalking trip. Jockey has been riding well.

Race 2:  4-1-7

#4 Truco Latino is consistent pro that always seems to fire a good effort. He’s showen he can win on the lead or from off the pace and apprentice rider Omar Santos should have him in a great spot early on.

Race 3:  6-7-5

#6 Blabber earned a solid speed figure in his last win at a slightly lower level. He’s shown talent is his three starts and his form suggest he still has plenty of room for improvement.

Race 4:  4-2-5

#4 Daring N Different was an unlucky second last time out when encountering early trouble before finishing with good energy. With a clean start, she looks like the one to beat in this field.

Race 5:  4-6-5

#4 El Korita has never been off the board in eight local starts at Los Al with a record of 3-4-1. Jockey Cesar De Alba has been aboard for two of his three lifetime wins and any of his last three efforts puts him right in the mix.

Race 6:  7-5-3

#7 Snow News ran a good third despite lugging in in his debut. There is plenty of upside in his second career start and he’s also taking a drop in class.

Race 7:  7-6-2

#7 Behind Bars is the deserving favorite off a solid debut followed by a troubled outing in a futurity trial last time out. He’s got top connections, good breeding, and is taking a drop in class.

Race 8:  6-1-5

#6 Lotsa Boots is an 8-year-old pro that faced a tougher field last time out and has been given some time off since March. He’s got a good late kick and will be tough if he can get away cleanly.

I watch horses run around.
