The $100,000 Go Man Go Handicap (GI)

This is the race that we have been waiting for all week. The road to the prestigious Champion of Champions (GI) continues today at Los Alamitos with the running of the Go Man Go Handicap (Race #9). This is one of the most talented fields of the Go Man Go that I have ever seen. The field includes a total of ten runners going to post including the morning line favorite, reigning World Champion American Quarter Horse of 2011, Cold Cash 123.

Cold Cash 123 comes into this race with a five-race winning streak which includes having won 9 of his last 11 starts with 6 of those wins coming in GI races. He is a talented winning machine. He is the deserving favorite, but my top pick is somewhere else. Cold Cash 123 (post #8) and Terrific Synergy (second choice on the morning line, post #9) drew side by side and I believe that will play against their favor. Why? Because both of those classy runners have strong late kicks but lack strong early gate speed. They have the speedy Creston Goer right to their inside (post #7) and the also have the speedy Sparky E Boy to their outside (post #10) with two of the best gate-speed riders in the game aboard, Cruz Mendez and Rodrigo Aceves. I envision Creston Goer and Sparky E Boy breaking fast and trying to cross over and clear the favorites in the early stages of the race and making it a tough trip for them. All these horses are filled with class and classy horses have a way of overcoming trouble but my pick to win the Go Man Go is Senor Toby.

Senor Toby does not have to worry about the talented El Aguila Real being in this field (second to him in his last three starts) and comes into this race with small freshening and two good workouts. He has gate speed and the rail post should fit him very well. His final quarter times are strong and has won 7 of his last 10 starts with two second place finishes in GI races. My pick. Good Luck!

Race 6:  1-6-3
Race 7:  3-5-6
Race 8:  2-6-5
Race 9:  1-3-8

$1 Late Pick 4 ($36):  1,6 /  3,5,6 / All / 1

Good Luck with your plays!
I watch horses run around.
