Locksmith, Give Me The Key To The Pick Four

Hola Amigos,

Welcome to the start of the racing week at Los Alamitos. Tonight's first post is set at 7:15pm right after Hollywood Park's post of 7:05pm. It is a holiday weekend with many track racing on Monday so it should be a great time of racing across the country. Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico began their racing season today with TWENTY FIVE (yes 25 races in one day, and still running by the way) trials for the Grade I $600,000 Ruidoso Futurity. The jockey colony here at Los Alamitos is a little light today with Rodrigo Aceves, Ramon Sanchez, and Cody Jensen all making the trip today out to Ruidoso. Good early pick four play today so let's get to it.

Race 1: I do not trust any of the runners in this field so i will go four deep to start my play. #1 Warren's Vanwinkle has run some good races since being in this new barn and comes off a good third last out and now gets Ramon Guce to ride. #4 Warren's Bandit ran at this same level but with tougher competition than most of these here and gets the blinkers off and can post an upset. #6 High Valley Guy showed some good speed last out when yielding late but only beaten 3/4 of a length for all the money. Stealing is on his agenda. #7 Detective Poirot might have finally found a field he can beat here and is making his third start at los al.

Race 2: Two deep for me in this race with #5 Run Over You who has run some consistent efforts in his last four starts that make him dangerous here. Has good positional speed and good finishing kick. #6 Sea Viper was favored last out against similar but was never involved after the start. If he can show his past speed, he might be long gone.

Race 3: #1 How Hot has two wins from last four starts all while going up and down the class ladder. He is in good form and the runner he beat last out came back to gallop in an easy win. #2 Dash Dinastia seems to be the only runner that really fits at this level (class speaking). Drops slightly, was favored last out in a decent effort. Retains leading rider. #7 Fighting City Hall is a nice gelding that has fired some good efforts in the past that can win in this spot. I like the small layoff since march and the outside post benefits this gelding to not get bumped between horses.

Race 4: The Closeout leg of this early pick four is a good field of $5,000 claimers going 4 and one half furlongs. We have trainer Brian Koriner and Adam Kitchingman shipping horses from across town to try to get the win. I do not like those shippers and instead i will single #1 Locksmith. This gelding always seems to be in good position and right in the mix in all his races. He just ran second to #6 last out but i think this time there is much more speed to pressure that foe and #1 Locksmith will be close by ready to scoop them all.
