Focused Friday

Hola Amigos,

It is finally Friday. We kick off the week of racing tonight at Los Alamitos with a good betting card that features nine races. The best bets in night racing (the pick fours) , keep getting better with bigger pools week after week. Tonight's card also features a nice pick six carryover of almost $10,000 which i am going to take a shot at. Last Sunday I caught some good prices on the card but was not able to take the pick six down. All it takes is a few beaten favorites and you are on your way to collecting a big pay day. Let's get to it.

Race 1: Single to start with #6 Dynasty Beach. This gelding ran a good second at this same level last out while only making his second start off a layoff. I think he gets the job done here.

Race 2: Going two deep with the always consistent #1 Mayla Bonita and #3 Rgr Famous Six. Both of these geldings dead-heated last time out for show in a starter allowance race.

Race 3: I can make a case for all runners. All.

Race 4: This race concludes the early pick four and it also begins the pick six. I am going to single right off the gate with #9 Panchos Last Pie. This filly's last out can be crossed out completely since she had an ugly break and the race was over from there. Her race two back puts her in the mix and the outside post should give her an opportunity for a clean break.

Race 5: Two deep in this race for me. Using #3 Impregnable but not because i like him but more because im scared of him. He is dropping in class and gets a hot apprentice rider with a good 10lb break. I do think he is the speed of the field but he needs an easy lead in order to win. He will probably get pressure from the rail horse and if that happens, i love #6 Atlantra's Tantrum to get a perfect stalking trip to win in the stretch.

Race 6: This race starts the late pick four. My second and last single of my pick six play comes in this race by the way of #5 Argyll Lad. This gelding is lightly raced, four life-time starts, and his win last time out here at los alamitos was in a very good time for the level. He goes first off the claim for a new trainer and gets a rider that is currently second in the thoroughbred standing. There is not alot of speed lined up so maybe he could take the lead of come right off the pace like he did last time in his win.

Race 7: This is a tough race and i will be using three horses in this field. #2 Fireman Dave showed a good closing kick to get up and beat a fast breaker in his last start and he is my top pick off that effort. #3 Solo Senor is my second pick here coming off just a maiden win but the runner up returned to win after that last start. In addition, the running figure he posted and the final time fit very well at this level. Closing my ticket in this race is the deserving favorite #6 La Plata Man who is dropping off much tougher allowance field and gets a good outside post.

Race 8: Two deep in this race. Top pick will be #1 Sheza Fast Habit. When this filly breaks, she either wins or runs 1,2,3. I will give her one more chance from the rail post to break and run a good one. Also using #3 Oh La Traffic, this filly is making second start off the layoff and she faced some classy fillies last out.

Race 9: Two deep to close out my plays. #3 Talladega drops out of a starter allowance race and gets reunited with the rider of his only win (Rodrigo Aceves). Also using the Paul Jones trained #5 Wave Over Phoebe who comes out of the same allowance race and her race two back against a strong head wind looks good.

$14 Early Pick Four: 6/1,3/all/9

$48 Pick Six: 9/3,6/5/2,3,6/1,3/3,5

Good Luck!
