Indiana Downs 10/12/13 All Quarter Horse Days

This year I had the pleasure of visiting Indiana Downs for the first time and I had a great time. They have great facilities that are clean, upgraded, and welcoming to all ages. They have a great loyal fan base and constantly have full-fields which provide great betting opportunities.

I had the opportunity to handicap with Jon White from HRTV and Rachel McLaughlin from Indiana Downs on a few of my visits and I was lucky enough to give out some winners for the fans and made some money.

Today, Indiana Downs has an all Quarter Horse card featuring a total of nine races with five Stakes. Eight of those races feature fields of ten while the other race has a field of eight. Great betting card.

Today's first post at Indiana Downs is 1:55pm Eastern.

Here are my selections:

8-3-1
Eagles Secret has the class edge against this field, she tends to break good, and missed third by a neck in Futurity. Caribbean Club switches to a new trainer that has been doing very good at this meet (28%) and he does have some early gate speed. Ask Buster made a good improvement in his second start and can be a big contender if he keeps getting better.

10-2-3
Phoebe Dynasty did not get away to a good start last out when third as the favorite let’s hope today’s outside post will help him get a clean start. I Am Fame’s best weapon is his gate speed, he has shown he can handle this distance before, he is making his second start off a long layoff. Ms Jesse Belle has a couple of good seconds in her record but she lacks early gate speed, will be rolling late.
3
7-5-4
Don’t blink or you might miss this 110-yard race. This is all about gate speed and Ra Jess Dream On has it. He has broken on top in six of his last nine starts, including winning four of those races. Speed Smith has finished second and third in two tries at this distance, he comes from high percentage connections. Pescado Fuerte has won two of his last three starts and has shown gate speed.
4
3-4-10
Wh Blazen Beach ran a good third after a troubled start, all she needs is an alert start. A Royal Hare has been favored in four of his last five starts and has finished second four times. Has the talent but lacks the will to win. Cackus Jack ran in a tough allowance last out, his race from two starts ago fits against this field, has good outside post.
5
8-3-10
Luminaro has found a new gear at the age of five, his last two wins looked very good, only needs to repeat last effort to win. Ritzi Zoomer showed a determined win last out and finished second behind the top choice two starts ago. This Ones for Rudy missed the win last out by a nose after making up ground late when over a length clear of the third place finisher.
6
8-3-2
If Sum Fun for Magic runs back to her trial, the rest are running for second. Tinys First Pepsi ran a good race in the trial and looked to have more gas left in the tank, he ran second behind the top choice two starts ago. Flys No Mystery closed the gap late against the second choice to come within a neck at the end, he likes this track and this distance.
7
4-7-1A
Foose On Fire won his trial despite breaking slow and hitting the gate at the start, he might be long gone if he breaks with the field. Pyc First Prize Fany has done little wrong in her four career starts and already has two wins over this track. Secrets Fly brings the class edge, he is a multiple stakes winner and has won six of his eight starts.
8
10-2-8
Pistolpacking Pepsi closed with a good kick and pulled away late in the trials, I give him the edge with the outside post. Wh Design by Dash is the class of the field, has qualified to multiple stakes, and his jockey knows him well. Eyem Jumpn had a troubled trip in his trial and is better than that race indicates, his trainer is having a good meet.
9
2-4-8
Tricky Outlaw had a three-race winning streak snapped in the trials after break last in field of seven but made up tons of ground late to get second. Habits Secret defeated the top choice in the trial and is looking to extend his winning streak to three. Diamonds Edge ran third behind the top two choices in the trials after breaking on top. He is lightly raced, can improve, and comes from a high-percentage trainer.

Wild West Futurity Trials

Trailers lined up for the Los Alamitos Equine Sale
Four trials to the Wild West Futurity (Race 6 - 9) will highlight tonight's card at Los Alamitos Race Course and close out a nice weekend of racing that saw some very good performances in the PCQHRA Derby & Futurity.

Los Alamitos also concluded their ninth annual Los Alamitos Equine Sale today. I had the opportunity to stop by on Saturday to check out the sale and it was nice to see some familiar faces. Ed Allred, owner of Los Alamitos, spoke to the crowd about the 2014 racing calendar at Los Alamitos and about the changes that the new Thoroughbred meets will bring to the facilities. Take a look at this letter from Dr. Allred: http://losalamitos.com/News.aspx?id=1932

Today's singles:

Race 1: #7 Attack The Fire - She arrives here from Ruidoso after running in three trials this summer that should give her plenty of class experience against these. The winner of that last trial went on to finish second in the prestigious All American Futurity. She looks to have some early speed and the Ruidoso shippers have been doing well here.

Race 6: #4 Jesses Perfect One - This gelding brings a four-race winning streak into this race and looks tough to beat. He has a good workout over this track and Jay Conklin knows him well.  All his races have been at today's distance.

Selections:

Race 1:  7-1-2
Race 2:  5-3-6
Race 3:  3-2-6
Race 4:  8-7-5
Race 5:  5-2-1
