Race 6:  5-6-1

#1 Dash Dinastia- drops to the bottom level off of okay effort, has faced MUCH better before.

The Junos Request Handicap

This Saturday evening of racing at Los Alamitos features the running in the Junos Request Handicap where a field of eight runners will dash 300 yards in the 9th race. The late pick four looks very competitive and should provide a good payout.

Race 9:  1-6-8   The Junos Request Handicap

Los Alamitos Friday 9/28

It is Santa Anita Park opening day across town in what should be a great meet ending with the Breeders' Cup Championships. Tomorrow is a big Saturday of racing with an abundance of graded stakes to be run in preparation for the Breeders' Cup. You can find my top 3 picks for each race at Santa Anita on theracingedition.com

The week of racing at Los Alamitos kicks off with a nine-race card tonight. Cold Cash 123 left us with a beautiful performance in the Go Man Go last Sunday and showed that he is in top form and ready for the Champion of Champions. The next berth to the Champion of Champions will be given to the winner of this Sunday's Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap. Stay tuned for that.

I am concentrating on the late pick four tonight, lets get to the picks.

Race 6:  6-7-5
#6 Snowbound Zanny, slightly fractious at gate in last, drops a tad, blinkers on, new rider up.
#7 Superspeedway, third against tougher when favored, lacks gate speed but can finish.
#5 Teller Verde, troubled last race, throw it out and his effort two back fits against these.

Race 7:  4-5-6
#4 Annas Babe, tough beat last out after leading all the way, gate speed, shortens distance.
#5 First Runaway Dash, face much tougher last out (rank), drops, good work, live.
#6 Bank Steller, threw head & rank in last race, give him one more chance.

Race 8:  3-5-1
#3 Seperate Interest, Ruidoso invader drops from trials, good efforts in two starts, live trainer.
#5 Havana Cartel, 2nd start, decent debut, given some time to refresh, nice drill, good price.
#1 Secret Cartel, other Ruidoso invader, slow work locally but drops in class, live combo.

Race 9:  2-6-7
#2 Classy Companion, comes off of best race ever, back to leading rider, tough here.
#6 Jumper Cat Carver Sa, won despite lugging out, Jones keeps them sharp.
#7 Another Nice Move, has improved since last seen locally, good outside post.

My Play:

$1 Late Pick Four ($24):  6 / 4,5,6 / 3,5 / 1,2,6,7

Good Luck!

The $100,000 Go Man Go Handicap (GI)

This is the race that we have been waiting for all week. The road to the prestigious Champion of Champions (GI) continues today at Los Alamitos with the running of the Go Man Go Handicap (Race #9). This is one of the most talented fields of the Go Man Go that I have ever seen. The field includes a total of ten runners going to post including the morning line favorite, reigning World Champion American Quarter Horse of 2011, Cold Cash 123.

Cold Cash 123 comes into this race with a five-race winning streak which includes having won 9 of his last 11 starts with 6 of those wins coming in GI races. He is a talented winning machine. He is the deserving favorite, but my top pick is somewhere else. Cold Cash 123 (post #8) and Terrific Synergy (second choice on the morning line, post #9) drew side by side and I believe that will play against their favor. Why? Because both of those classy runners have strong late kicks but lack strong early gate speed. They have the speedy Creston Goer right to their inside (post #7) and the also have the speedy Sparky E Boy to their outside (post #10) with two of the best gate-speed riders in the game aboard, Cruz Mendez and Rodrigo Aceves. I envision Creston Goer and Sparky E Boy breaking fast and trying to cross over and clear the favorites in the early stages of the race and making it a tough trip for them. All these horses are filled with class and classy horses have a way of overcoming trouble but my pick to win the Go Man Go is Senor Toby.

Senor Toby does not have to worry about the talented El Aguila Real being in this field (second to him in his last three starts) and comes into this race with small freshening and two good workouts. He has gate speed and the rail post should fit him very well. His final quarter times are strong and has won 7 of his last 10 starts with two second place finishes in GI races. My pick. Good Luck!

Race 6:  1-6-3
Race 7:  3-5-6
Race 8:  2-6-5
Race 9:  1-3-8

$1 Late Pick 4 ($36):  1,6 /  3,5,6 / All / 1

Good Luck with your plays!

Los Alamitos Saturday 9/22

It is Saturday night of racing at Los Alamitos and I am going to focus on the late pick 4 tonight. My single is in the 8th race where you could make a case for every runner. My key will be #4 Freakiest who is 6-1 on the Morning Line. He is a first time gelding coming off a small layoff. He was last seen when he faced One Dashing Eagle in the trials to the Ed Burke. His debut two races back was a decent one where he showed gate speed in a final time of 15.67. He now has had chance to mature and has a nice 12.20 drill in preparation for this. #2 Commando Tres Seis will take alot of play off of those fast drills. Let's get to the play.

Race 6:  6-4-1
Race 7:  6-2-4
Race 8:  4-2-5
Race 9:  4-5-2

My play:

$1 Late Pick 4 ($24):  1,4,6 / 2,6 / 4 / 1,2,4,5

Good Luck!

Los Alamitos Friday 9-21

It's Friday!

I have begun a new project (Sadly, not related to horse racing, still in search of an opportunity in this industry) that will take my time away from playing and watching the entire cards from Los Alamitos, but for the most part I will still be able to catch the second half of the card on occasions so that will be my main focus tonight. If you want some opinions on earlier or other races just shoot me a tweet or DM and I will gladly share my thoughts.

Nine-race card today so the late pick 4 begins in race 6. No major stakes today but this Sunday is the running of the $100,000 Go Man Go Handicap where a classy and talented field of ten runners will face off in search of the win, but most importantly a berth to the GI $750,000 Champion of Champions is up for grabs (to be run in December). Reigning champion Cold Cash 123 (Already is qualified to Champion of Champions) will make his local start in the Go Man Go and will be looking to keep his five-race winning streak going. Tune in on Sunday for that.

Let's get to my selections and play for tonight.

Race 6:  5-6-3
Race 7:  3-6-1
Race 8:  5-6-2
Race 9:  2-5-6

My Play:

$1 Late Pick 4 ($24):  5 / 3,6 / 1,2,5,6 / 2,5,6

Good Luck!

The Eagle Soared in The All American Futurity

Track: Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.
When: Labor Day, Monday September 3rd.
What: The World's Richest Quarter Horse Race, The Grade I $2.4 Million All American Futurity.
Who Won: One Dashing Eagle ridden by Ramon Sanchez, Trained by Jose De La Torre, Owned by Jose and Gustavo De La Torre and San Gregorio Racing Stables Inc.

Not only is winning the All American Futurity a difficult task, just qualifying as one of the final 10 horses in the gate on Labor Day is a mission in itself. One Dashing Eagle was one of the 257 horses that raced in the 26 trials (the ten runners with the fastest final times earn a spot in the final) a few weeks back in search of a fast enough time to be in the top ten.

One Dashing Eagle won his trial in a time of 21.369 for the 440 yards. That was a good enough time to land the sixth fastest qualifying time. In his trial One Dashing Eagle won despite lugging out to the outside rail during the running of the race. I believe that was a good thing. Why? Because after that race, his Jockey Ramon Sanchez knew what he had to correct and worry about in the final on Labor Day.

One Dashing Eagle (at Odds of 6-1, paid $14.60 for every $2 to win) broke good in the All American Futurity from post position #6 and from the start you could see that Jockey Ramon Sanchez was just trying to keep him straight and not ask him much to not lose his rhythm. He kept extending his stride and had a good lead midway through the race and pulled away to a 1 and 3/4 length win in a final time of 21.23 seconds. Sudden Thoughts got second, Aha Moment finished third.

One Dashing Eagle earned $1,200,000 for his win in the All American Futurity. He now has two GI wins under his belt, previously had won the GI Ed Burke Million Futurity at Los Alamitos Race Course, and his lifetime earnings are now $1,626,205. He was purchased for $43,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, talk about return on investment!

Next, he will likely be pointed to the Golden State Million Futurity. Sadly he is not paid in The Two Million Futurity, both of those races are to be run later this year at Los Alamitos Race Course.

If you follow my blog and follow me on twitter you knew that One Dashing Eagle was my pick all along leading up to the race, hope i helped you cash a winning wager.

Here is my play that i made: https://twitter.com/LosPonies/status/242762602239893505

Labor Day Del Mar Pick 5

The last time i posted my DelMar pick 5 play here we were alive for $18,000 in the last leg.....we got third.

I am back for a redemption.

Playing an economic ticket today but it has potential to pay a little something, maybe not $18,000 but a good profit will be on the table if we get it home.

Race 1:  6
Race 2:  4,5,7,8
Race 3:  5,6
Race 4:  6
Race 5:  2,3,4,5,6

Ticket Total: $20

Single in the first leg #6 Woodmans Luck, gets an extra 1/16 of real estate to run at and a new rider to get a win for this runner before the meet ends. Second-itis no more, right?

Single in the four leg #6 Thehumancomplaint, was an unlucky loser in debut when second after a slow break, experience under belt, much upside potential, $105,000 buy after a $5,500 sire stud fee speaks good, nice drill after the debut, all systems go. Oh and Bejarano dont fail me now!

Good Luck!
