The Adequan California Regional Challenge

Its Friday!

The racing week at Los Alamitos kicks off with a pick six carryover and the running of the Adequan California Regional Challenge. In that race it seems like a two-horse race between impressive trial winners A Mere Dyansty and Tires Of Linda. Those two runners look to have the race surrounded and if you can beat those two you will be looking at some great odds in anyone else.

******CORRECTION-EDITED**** Race 3 top pick and single in the pick four should be #4 not #3 as posted earlier. Post edited.

8/22/12: Del Mar Wednesday Pick 5

Feeling a little lucky today.
I like a mid-priced horse today in the pick 5 at DelMar that I will single in my ticket. I like playing pick 4 & pick 5 tickets when singling a good priced horse that way i can take my chances at being in position for big scores.  You can find my top three picks for every race at DelMar on theracingedition.com Also check back here on Friday for my free Los Alamitos selections.

The good thing about the Pk5 at DelMar is the low take out, big pools and the fifty cent minimum bet allows for good coverage.

Race 1: 5,6
Race 2: 5,6,7
Race 3: 1,4,5,6,7,8
Race 4: 3,4
Race 5: 5

Ticket Total : $36

Key Single: #5 Jules Journey in race 5. This Runner was fractious at the gate last time and was hounded on the lead by a baffert runner (the brain, who was favored) through fast fraction when going long. This gelding fought off that foe (the brain faded) but the fast fractions took a toll on him and the horses that sat behind that duel ended up finishing 1st & 2nd, he held third. Jules Journey came back to work smartly and I like that he gets off the rail and does not have to be used early to establish position. The other speed (Regulus) removes the blinkers and I don't think he will show enough speed to duel. I think Jules with Martin Garcia will take control and improve greatly this second time routing at DelMar.

Good Luck!

Friday 8-10-12: Warm Form heads Allowance

The week of racing at Los Alamitos begins with a nine-race card that has a post time of 7:20pm. The feature race tonight is an Allowance for three-year-old fillies going 330 yards in race 8 in which Warm Form comes off a small layoff and gets a class relief. She was last seen running in the Maiden Stakes in February where she ran a good fourth. Is she a lock? Let's find out.

Race 1:  2-1-6
#2 Chapito-showed speed in local debut (3rd), claimed by hot connections, expect improvement.
#1 Wind in Motion-has speed and drops in class. Has also worked here locally, can steal it.
#6 Last Chance Bobby-40-time maiden still looking for first win. One of these days.

Race 2:  1-6-4
#1 Seperate Checks-drops from trial, was debut winner four-back, solid connections.
#6 Flash N the Boys-good looking maiden win last out, can improve in third start for this bard.
#4 Sassy Carter-takes a slight class drop and comes off of best effort. Sanchez back aboard.

Race 3:  7-2-4
#7 Hot Cinder- first off claim for good combo, has been steadily improving, has good position speed.

#4 Ashabu-broke good but faded last out, takes big drop, will have to deal with #6 on the lead.

Race 4:  3-2-4
#3 Track a Tac- big improvement in second start for barn, showed good stride, needs to run straight.
#2 Blazin Cartel-colt showed signs of run last out, bred nicely and barn does not drop, can upset.
#4 Hawkarunner-good third last out, good second in debut, needs to only improve a little to win.

#1 Mtc Aint He Cool- took big step up last time, lightly raced, race two-back looks good here.

#1 Blt Oatmeal Cookie-made 3yo debut last out at this level, likes to win races.

Race 8:  6-4-7
#6 Warm Form-gets big class relief, has good speed numbers, great works in preparation.
#4 In Another World-broke maiden last out, will like distance, can repeat with good break.
